Hydration of the body is one of the most important elements of health care.
Many of us forget about it during
the day and try to catch up just before bed. Is this good practice? The answer
may be surprising.
Hydration of the body is one of the most important elements of health care. Water is necessary to maintain water-electrolyte and acid-base balance in the body, affects
blood density, as well as the functioning of the digestive and urinary systems. In fact, almost every aspect of our bodies depends on proper hydration. The World Health Organisation recommends drinking 30 ml of water daily for each
kilogram of body weight. Many of us, however, forget about this rule during the
day and catch up on what we missed just before going to bed. Is this practice
healthy?
Is
drinking water right before bed healthy?
Generally, drinking water before bed
is good for our body. Hydration even while sleeping is important for the
regeneration and detoxification of our body, as well as for the proper
functioning of organs and systems. Drinking water before bed can also lower
blood pressure and regulate body temperature.
However, as always, the key lies in moderation. Although drinking a glass
of water before going to bed is a good habit, we should not overdo it. It is recommended
to drink no more than one glass of water half an hour before bed to avoid
waking up at night. Some experts even recommend drinking your last glass of
water two hours before going to bed.
However, hydrating yourself thoroughly right before bed may be risky. A
full bladder will definitely make itself felt and instead of resting peacefully
in a deep sleep, we will be forced to go to the toilet at night.
