• Shellac: Typically lasts 10 to 14 days without chipping. It is better for those who change their polish color frequently.
• Gel: Lasts 2 to 3 weeks (sometimes up to 4). It is more chip-resistant than Shellac, making it ideal for longer wear and, in some cases, for adding strength to weak nails.

3. Application Process

• Shellac: Applied like traditional polish in thin layers (base, color, top coat) and cured under a UV/LED lamp. It requires minimal buffing of the nail plate.
• Gel: Also cured under a lamp, but often requires more, thicker layers and more precise, sometimes laborious application.

4. Removal Process

• Shellac: Known for being easy to remove. It generally takes 10–15 minutes of soaking in acetone for the polish to lift off, often with minimal to no filing.
