Nigerian actress and film producer Lilian
Afegbai, popularly known as Lily Afe, has reacted to the list of
nominations for the upcoming Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
The actress expressed disappointment over her
omission from the Best Supporting Actress category.
Lily Afe spoke out after she was not nominated for her role as Idia in To Kill a
Monkey.Lily Afe said she believed her performance in
the series stood out and argued that her character attracted significant
attention last year.
“I always choose to believe everything happens
for a reason. I don’t need a nomination for validation. The truth is clear
nobody trended like IDIA from TKAM last year. You guys can eat your award.
Amvca SMH,” she wrote.
Tribune Online reports that actresses nominated for the Best Supporting
Actress include; Olamide Kidbaby in Oversabi Aunty, Bisola Aiyeola in Gingerrr,
Sola Sobowale in The Covenant, Funke Akindele in Behind The Scenes, Nadia Dutch
in Aljana, Amal Umar in The Herd, Juliebrenda Nyambura in MTV Shuga Mashariki
and Linda Ejiofor in The Herd.
