Donatella Versace has officially recruited the 23-year-old former One Director member and current solo artist to create a collection for Versus Versace. In addition to starring in advertising campaigns, Malik will debut the new line of men's and women's clothing—dubbed Zayn X Versus—in May 2017.
“I think Versus has always been a very cool brand. It’s a great brand for me and for people in my generation. I’ve always wanted to design clothes, and there’s no brand I’d rather design for than Versus,” he said in a statement. “The bonus is that I get to collaborate with Donatella, whom I love and admire. I know we’ll create something amazing.”
The dynamic duo seems to get along
fabulously. Malik and Hadid sat front row at the brand’s spring 2017 show in September, and
Versace has nothing but kind words to share about the star
. “Zayn is one of the most
exciting personalities on the world stage right now. When we first met, he told
me how much he love fashion,” Donatella said in a statement. “I expect there
will be a lot of excitement about what we care together.”
And excitement there is, indeed.
They each took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the news. Donatella also
encouraged fans to send her a direct message for a chance to receive a selfie
of the pair.
