Lush Hair Champions African Identity At Lagos Fashion Week

 

Lush Hair took a bold stand for African beauty and inclusion at Lagos Fashion Week 2024, delivering a message that goes beyond hair care.

Held on Victoria Island, Lagos, the event showcased the brand’s commitment to redefining beauty standards across the continent.

With the theme “COMMUNE,” Lush Hair’ at the five-day event highlighted its

philosophy of embracing diverse beauty through an inclusive lineup of models.

According to a Monday statement sent to The PUNCH, the brand’s presentation included plus-size models, an amputee model, and models of various skin tones, all celebrating the rich tapestry of African beauty.

The refreshing diversity was a highlight of the Lagos Fashion Week runway, inspiring attendees to appreciate African beauty in all its forms.

“Our roots run deep in the fashion industry,” said the Brand Manager at Lush Hair, Omoruyi Bello-Osagie. “We’re not merely creating products; we’re crafting confidence, empowering women of all backgrounds to embrace their authentic selves.”

The brand also launched a new Hair Treatment line tailored to African hair needs.

The innovation, developed with attention to the unique demands of African hair, represents a significant stride in specialised care that celebrates hair diversity, the brand noted.

Behind the scenes, the team led by Edith Okechukwu from the Lush Hair Professional School styled over 100 models, using products like Kinky Twist, Kinky Royale, and Roni Curls to enhance each model’s natural texture. The team’s work demonstrated how accessible, high-quality hair solutions can elevate fashion presentations while catering to the everyday consumer.

Marketing Manager Vivian Obiano shared the brand’s broader mission, saying, “When we support African designers and creatives, we’re investing in the future of our fashion industry. But more importantly, when we showcase diversity, we’re sending a powerful message that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and shades. This aligns perfectly with our mission to empower every woman through beauty and self-expression.”
