New Beauty Products: Stila Launches Color-Shifting Shade Mystére Liquid Eye Shadow and Face Gloss

Color-changing lipsticks have been around for a while, probably because they never really lose their novelty. Whether it's a yellow balm that leaves lips a pH-perfected shade of coral or a black bullet that goes on berry, it's always interesting to see just how a color will develop on you. Now, Stila is taking the color-shifting fun to other parts of the face with its new Shade Mystére products — and they're like nothing you've ever seen before.

Featuring what the brand is calling a "groundbreaking new effect," the new Shade Mystére Liquid Eye Shadows appear in their tubes to have two marbleized shades. Once applied, however, it "magically morphs into one color-flipping shade that shifts as it catches the light." Unlike color-changing lipsticks, it's not pH that makes these shadows fluctuate; instead, it's "a unique combination

of color-flip pigments, pearls, and shimmer particles" to maximize the high-impact, color-changing, sparkle effect.

The lightweight formula comes in eight shades: Psychic is periwinkle with a pink pearl flip, Mythical is lilac with a blue pearl flip, Spiritual is yellow with a gold and red pearl flip, Charmed is a true pearl with red flip, Enigmatic is aubergine with a violet pearl flip, Mystic is peacock blue with a teal and violet flip, Spellbound is violet with a fuchsia and blue pearl flip, and Hypnotic is burgundy with an olive and gold flip.

Along with the liquid eye shadows, Stila has also just launched Shade Mystère Face Gloss. Basically a super-charged highlighting balm, it features not two but three marbleized shades that "combine to create a subtle, multi-dimensional, glossy" effect. Stila recommends applying it to the high points of the face for a dewy look or even blending it all over to make skin glow, but I have no doubt it would also work as an awesome lip topper.
